1995
CTC Founded
Cambrian Training Company (CTC)
set-up as a subsidiary of Mid-Wales Tourism, based at Old Coach Chambers, Welshpool.
Held contract with Powys Training and Enterprise Council to deliver NVQs.
1997
Elen Rees Joins
Elen Rees joined CTC and is the longest serving member of staff and is now
CTC Finance Director.
1998/99
First Welsh Government Contract
CTC wins first Welsh Government apprenticeship contract providing apprenticeships from “Pasture to Plate”: Food and Drink Manufacture, Hospitality, Customer Service, Retail, Business Admin and Management.
2002
Management Buy-Out
Management buy-out of CTC from
Mid-Wales Tourism.
Established CTC Centre of Excellence and Butchery Centre of Excellence in Unit 14 Severn Farm Enterprise Park, Welshpool.
2003
Irfon Valley Lamb Founded & Recognition
Founded Irfon Valley Lamb Ltd and launched Young Butcher of the Year.
CTC named Apprenticeship Provider of the Year at Apprenticeship Awards Cymru
2005 - 2014
Welsh Meat Online
Changed trading name to Welsh Meat Online to reflect the wide range of Welsh meat sold online.
2007 and 2012
Apprenticeship Provider Awards
CTC named Apprenticeship Provider of the Year in the Apprenticeship Awards Cymru in both 2007 and 2012.
2012
Sub-Contractor Programme Launch
CTC appointed first sub-contractor Sirius Skills to provide Health and Social Care apprenticeships. CTC now works with nine sub-contractors.
2014
Skills Competition Wales
CTC appointed to run the Hospitality competitions in the newly established Skills Competition Wales.
2015
Culinary Association Partnership
CTC become a sponsor of the Culinary Association of Wales.
CTC Launches the Welsh heat of Butchery WorldSkills UK National competition.
2016
New Headquarters
CTC move to purpose-built offices at Offas Dyke Business Park, Welshpool “Tŷ Cambrian”.
2017
Awards Launch and Acquisition
CTC launched Cambrian Training Apprenticeship, Employment and Skills Awards.
Trailhead Fine Foods purchased.
2018
OBE Recognition
Arwyn Watkins,
Managing Director of CTC awarded an OBE for services to education and training in Wales.
2021
Direct Contract Provider & The Trewythen
CTC becomes one of ten Welsh Government commissioned direct contract apprenticeship providers.
CTC opens The Trewythen in May.
2022
Best Provider Award
CTC named “Best Work Based Apprenticeship Provider in Wales” by Corporate Vision Magazine.
2022 - 2024
Mid Wales Autumn Fayres
Changed business name to
Mid Wales Fayres Ltd and ran three successful Mid Wales Autumn Fayres in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
2023
New CTC Managing Director Announced
Faith O’Brien named as new
Managing Director of CTC
2024
Diversity and Inclusion Recognition
CTC Finalist in the Diversity and Inclusion Awards Wales – shortlisted for the Inclusive Product Award for its Supported Shared Apprenticeship Programme.
2025
Employee-Owned Trust
CTC becomes a 100% Employee-Owned Trust Business on 27th March 2025.
